Buying and Selling Expired Domains

Recently I chatted with someone that told me they felt bad about selling a domain that someone had owned previously and wanted back. What do I have to say to that? Lets consider a few things about buying preowned or expiring domains and reselling them.

The first lesson is that if you want to make money online, you have to get in the mentality of it. You are not shafting someone for selling a domain back to them for several hundred dollars or more. Let me tell you why.

First model of online business like any other is, business is business. Don’t forget that you are treating this as a business and that if you go to Walmart you aren’t going to be able to bargain on an item you think is too expensive. Don’t cut yourself short and feel sorry for people that don’t want your asking price on a domain. Its them thats wants the domain. You call the shots.

Its not inflated, its value. If you knew how inflated some products you have bought were you would be shocked. The domain market is all about what someone is willing to pay for a domain. Maybe its because of brandability or because the domain has a name in it that a company wants.

A domain is not a necessity, it is a commodity. If a person wants it then they want it for a reason, and that reason is not that they won’t feed their kids tomorrow, otherwise they would have paid more attention to the domain when it came up for renewal again. If they cared more they would have purchased it for another 5 years and made sure it didn’t expire.
